Hi all,

I'm looking for new headlight for my Y2001 S3 with Xenon because motor clamp of both headlight were broken and the outer lens is really dimmed. However, all I can find from Ebay is for Halogen bulb.

Is there any alternative (cheaper than stock lamp body) of this? Stock is really expensive, so I want to buy cheaper one. Please advise. Thanks,

Motor clamp? What's that?

Also when you say outer lens is dimmed do you mean the bulb is pink or that one side is much brighter than the other?

Actually, there is the small plastic clamp for height adjustment motor inside of headlight. Both of clamps are broken. And the "Dimming" means that the front side of headlamp(not projection lens) is turbid(muddy?).

I took clamp image from another thread of this forum.

I have exactly the same problem with both of my headlights. According to the Audi main stealer you can't buy the white clips seperately. "You'll have to pay for a pair of new headlights sir" Yeah right.

I've put some standard A3 halogen headlights in while I try to find something suitable to fix the original ones. Ironically the 'inferior' halogen units seem to throw out more useful light than the xenons, so I might just stick with the replacements.

Thanks for the comment. I may need to get halogen unit and find out some solution later.

Hi Sharc

I have similar problem too. Took the car to independent specialist in North London and they said the same. They also said sticking in standard A3 headlamp unit would throw up a fault code.

Can't afford the £500-600 for one headlamp unit!!

Whats wrong with ebay items?? Loads of OE lights for the S3 on the flea! Get searching!

500 quid....you'd pick them up for less than a £100 if you spent time trying to find some.

Thanks for the nice advices. Spending over £100~500 just for tiny white motor clips is not reasonable to me. I'm thinking of making motor clips with aluminum from machining center.
