Oil leak at rear end of car

I seem to have oil leaking from the back end of the car (next to the back box) is this from the diff? Could it cause a slight grinding noise when dipping the clutch to change gear when the engine is cold?

the only thing that far back that would have oil should be the diff... or a split CV gator dropping grease out.

or a muffler bearing
