advise wanted please

Hi all sorry if this is the wrong section im new to the forum, im going to swapping my civic type r for a S3 1999 on saturday and wondered if theres any advise as to what to look for etc, and is a 1999 a 1.8t or a 2.0T is it 225 standard and it states its stage 1, is it fwd or 4wd. cheers, martin.

A '99 will be a 1.8t.
4wd
stage 1 should be around 250bhp 280lbft..

Check for rust bubbles on the roof rails, bottom of doors and tailgate handle.
Depending on milage, check the camblet history

Also check to see if the head gaskget hasnt gone and that there isnt no nasty nocking (1.8t arent the quitest engine anyway but if it sounds quite loud could be cam chain etc), if possible take a version of vag-com with you to see if anything pops up.

Ive seen some oddball BAM 225's on a 99... Most likely to be a 210 APY or AMK though.

well my 2000 plate was sold to me as a 225, until i checked the plate that is and realised it was the 210 apy.
