S3 Gearbox Mount

Been looking all over the web and cannot find a definative answer to this....

Are the gearbox mounts on the A3 and the S3 the same?

They LOOK identical - just wondered if anyone knew.....?

Try VagCat for a definitive answer, but there are definitely a few different part numbers across the A3 range. If it helps the THS mounts I have are stated to support the models below in both 5 and 6 speed, so you'd have to assume they are generic for these -

VW Golf Mk4 2.0 Gti

VW Golt 1.9 TDi

VW Bora 1.9TDi
Audi A3 1.8T

Welly I had exactly the same problem and started a thread about it.

They are not the same. The S3 and TT are but the A3 1.8T are not. The S3 and TT have liquid inside them for better damping and are slightly stronger, they also have a heat sink effect on top of them for the liquid inside. You will notice what I mean if you can get a picture of a A3 or Seat Leon gearbox mount they are very slightly different visually. They will fit but not as strong so wouldnt advice you to do so.

I got a TT gearbox mount and was wondering why are A3 1.8T so much cheaer but that is why so only buy one from a TT or S3.

Welly I had exactly the same problem and started a thread about it.

For the moment I've ordered a 1.8T one, was only £20 and was the same one I put on the A3. It's just for testing and if it proves to resolve the issue I will splash out on a pukka one.
