    Help with VAG-COM figures please...

    Evening folks. I recently replaced the turbo on my S3 (APY, Custom Code Stage One) - only a new standard K04. Performance was great initially but has dropped off, so would appreciate any advice.

    The difference was unreal for the first week or so. It felt so responsive throughout the rev range. It was boosting really strong from almost as low as 2K revs, turbo was so loud, and pulling really strong consistently up to 6K revs without any feeling of dropping off. It was strong in all gears, even 5th gear felt really strong and torquey.

    But after a week or two the performance has dropped off. It went from being really responsive throught the rev range, to being really a lot duller. It takes until late 2K to 3K before you really feel the boost, and it's nowhere near as strong as before with regards both the initial punch when it kicks in, and how it holds boost up to 6K revs. It feels nowhere near as strong in higher gears, 4th & 5th, like it did initially.

    Unfortunately I never got around to logging the car in the first week or two. But now I've gotten around to logging here are my figures below.

    Can anyone spot anything amiss here?

    * Block 002 - MAF seems good, peaking near 210 g/s
    * Block 032 - Not sure how to interpret this. I did a throttle body realignment before the runs with VAG-COM
    * Block 020 - There doesn't seem to be much CF here. Apparently below 3 is fine?
    * Block 116 - Not sure how to interpret this - but understand that near 100% until boost maxs is meant to be good, which mine is doing
    * Block 115 - It's peaking near 1.5mbar around 4K revs, but only holding 1.2mbar (I'm just taking away 1mbar for atmospheric pressure, not sure if this is correct, but relative figures still apply obviously)

    to me mate this is a really healthy set of logs and car seems fine to me everthing looks spot on the standard k04 without forge actuator wont hold any more boost than 1.2 bar at redline timing pull/cfs look sound nice and low anything up to 4s is ok maff is bang on really strong car maybe you have just got used to the power now 210gsx1.3 =273 bhp as a rough guide

    Thanks for the replies. I hope those links are working, I tried again and the work OK for me.

    My main concern is from 2k - 3k revs. The first week of having the new turbo, it was kicking in really strong from pretty much 2k revs (nothing higher than 2100rpm). It's hard to tell from my logs when precisely it is getting requested boost...but it looks like roughly 3500 RPM. Whereas I would imagine from the feel of the car after initially getting the turbo changed, it was getting the request boost a little earlier, so obviously the curve would have been more steep, and given me a more torque feeling from 2000 RPM.

    But now there just seems to be a lot more lag there. As a consequence, when pulling off when you put the foot down you really feel a noticeable "slowness" of the S3 to get going compared to how it was when. As well as the lag it just doesn't have the same punch as it initially had.

    I wonder are there any VAG-COM results of an "ideal" performance from a custom-code stage-one mapping on a K04? JBS have a thread up here for their JBS 05 turbo, they show a graph for a K04 with custom code stage one, but they don't actually show the logged data http://seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1642554

    I'd love to say that I got just got used to the power. But a week or two is just a bit too quick to get used to it. The difference is really is so noticeable.

    Just had a look back at some old figures that I logged from before I changed my turbo. They are here

    You can see my old setup was holding boost consistently up to the redline of just over 1.2 mbar. Whereas now it seems to be gradually falling of once it spikes at 1.5mbar. So I don't think all is right here with the current figures I have higher up the rev range either...and you can feel it as you push beyond 4K revs.

    Ignore the boost readings for the low revs, as there was some problem with the old setup, where it was dropping off boost around 3k revs.

    I had the same problem, After a remap it felt super punchy but after a few weeks the remap seemed to dull off, I believe this is due to the ECU adapting ie reducing boost and ignition for current conditions.

    You can check the adapation channels on vagcom (I can't remember the channels but its around 80) for any values.

    If you removed the ECU fuse I think it is the only 15amp one (white) this will clear any adaptation values and you car will return to its punchy self..... for a while

    The remap is on the car this last 8 months, just changed the turbo a month ago.

    Am I understanding you correctly in that you are saying that the change in behaviour is due to the ECU "adapting" to the difference with the new turbo?

    I've read before about clearing the adaption values with VAG-COM, but I never tracked down how to do this. Anyone got any info on this?

    Worth a shot I guess? Clear adaption values, let the ECU "learn" them again, and maybe see an improved performance from it?

    worth a try
    log 031 tho and not 032 which is fuel trim and meaningless as a log.. just worth checking its values every now and then to see if its adding of removing fueling

    I couldn't 100% say I know what would cause the ecu would start to 'adapt' but looking on the forums and having questions answered (mainly by Badger and Tuffty), these ECU's are running some clever software and due to varying characteristics of the engine componets, you would think it would 'adapt' or 'taylor' itself accordingly.

    Maybe it is running older parameters for the older turbo.

    I know removing the ECU fuse clears these values, I am sure someone on here knows how to clear them via vagcom.

    Hmm...I specified block 032, don't know why it's giving me those values, I'll take another look.

    Do my logs look "normal" for a custom-code stage 1? Or can you see anything amiss here? My main concern was actual boost below 3.5K revs....it seems (and feels!) like there's a good bit of lag.

    032 is fueling adaption trims.. 031 is live actual vs request, as 001 is live lambda adjust..

    Ooops sorry, misread you. I'll log 031 and 001.

    What's your thoughts on my current logs. Do they seem fine? Or can you notice any problems? Especially below 3.5k revs?
