DS2500 Pads Part number - anyone tried this?

I have heard that Ferodo DS2500 pads part number FCP1068H for the fronts are in fact the same as FCP590H but about Ł25-Ł30 less expensive. Aparrently the pads are the same apart from a slightly different piston retainer three pronged clip. has anyone on here tried these, or does anyone work for Ferodo or a brake specialist and can compare the pads with the two part numbers side by side etc.

    Thanks in advance all

I like my brakes to stop me. If you can find someone who isn't bothered about stopping, they might be up for trying this.

Personally, brakes and tyres are not something to be skimped on!

JD09 I couldnt agree more, that why I wanted to see if the two pads were in fact the same but with a different three pronged clip. Brakes are something that I take very seriously, and want to use the best possible components available. Many vehicles use the same calipers from the same caliper manufacturer, so you often find the same pad fitment for multiple vehicles of differing makes. What I am trying to establish is are the two part numbers in fact the same pad but with simply a different three pronged clip on back, as the three prong clip merely stops the pad from rattling, it's shape is immaterial as its function is unchanged. My origional post was simply asking if anyone knew, or had the abiliy to compare the two pad sets side by side. Given the cost of DS2500 pads I dont think it too "bad" to be trying to find if there are two prices for what are in fact the SAME pads. if they are the same then other ASN readers may then be able to benefit from it, if not the same then folks would know.

The 590's have a much smaller clip.. thus designed for a smaller ID calliper piston.
would "fit" but could also rattle, and not retract properly with the piston.

Theres a reason the pads have different part numbers
