    A3 1999 1.8T Front Brakes?

    hey guys. ive bought some new front brake discs and pad for the 1.8T and was wondering what tools i need to do this myself? i can get my local garage to do it for like 40 but if i have the tools then i might give it ago myself..any help would be appreciated

    Hello mate,

    Its easy, I needed the following:

    Socket set
    Allen sockets
    Breaker bar
    Pry bar
    Long nose pliers.

    Allen sockets to release the caliper pins
    Socket set and breaker bar to get the carriers off
    Ling nose pliers to release the spring on the caliper
    Pry bar to push the old pads back into the caliper.

    Easy peasy, less than an hour all in mate

    No worries, its an easy job

    The only tricky bit I had was getting the carriers off the hub as they were F tight, the breaker bar took care of that though. I found giving the caliper pins a clean up and grease was worth it as they came out pretty crudded up.

    Might be an oportunity to paint your calipers too whilst its all off. Wish I had!.
