    Under engine tray snapped off...

Just noticed this morning when looking around the engine that the under tray that sits under the engine is completely missing. Stupid i know as i only bought the thing last week and should have checked... F**k knows how the last owner managed to snap this off?

I obviously need to get this replaced but after looking around on the web i'm finding it hard to locate. Does anyone know where i can get one from? And as to whether this is a major problem for driving the car around?

Also, the front right brake is making a grinding noise and think this is down to a new disc needed. Think the pads are ok but the car had ben standing around for a year or so and think this could be part of the problem... Could there be any other reason for this?

    Still learning about these things!

I dont think anyone still has their engine tray lol. I certainly dont have mine.

Are you sure the inside pad is fine as they normally wear a bit faster n you might be down to the metal.

My undertray went a long time ago, no idea where but one day it was there...the next it was gone...as well as the lower front part of the passenger side inner wheel arch liner.

I need to get them replaced really, PM PJMSpeedy on here and he should be able to get a price for you. I've got stuff off him before, excellent service

Mine is still there, but it's cracked in 2 places, might just rip it off myself the next time I'm under the car.

I went for a nice long drive when it first started snowing and when I got home realised the tray was hanging off. I just tore it off.
It's got marks on it that look suspiciously like a pulley had been rubbing a groove in it... hmm.

undertrays are good things. youre better off with it

most are missing due to lazy service morons who dont bother to refit them (so much for audi servicing..) or morons who smash them off on speed bumps etc

temperatures are controlled better, so is airflow and noise

one big thing it does is help aerodynamics. faster airflow under the car, less lift. a couple guys sorted out undertrays on their golfs and saw improved lap times in whatever championship they were in.

when i put them all back on the golf, there was a noticable improvement in turn-in and stability mid corner.

with better aero dynamics it should be quieter. according to audi it improves temperatures, but i dont remmeber seeing lower temps etc
