Rear diff

I have just got my car back from having a diff lock problem diagnosed and it would appear the rear diff is constantly locked so it looks cheaper to replace the diff than rebuild.

Where there any different types of rear diff throughout the s3 range?

I have a 1999 T APY 1.8t 210 car and want to know if any diff from the same era r32, tt, s3 will fit?

Im 100% sure the diff from a mk4 R32 will fit because I replaced the whole rear end of my car last week using everything from an R32, pretty sure the TT is the same too.

I had to replace the rear diff on my A3 TQS a couple of years ago - it's a nightmare trying to source reasonably priced parts. Audi stealers in Bristol wanted a fortune and even new parts through specialist garage was exorbitant. Eventually found a couple of cars at breakers yards that had suffered front end prangs. Played off the two yards for price in the end - saved myself a packet and had no problem in the 2 years since.

EDIT: I'd get this one now mate if you dont live too far as its got 5 pending offers already. £200 is good and you can sell what you dont need to make your money back. I paid £280 for the same but it had only done 14,000 miles.

I'm doing the same with mine...buying a new unit as mine is goosed and it's cheaper to bin the old one and sling a working used one on. I rang my mechanic for an estimate on labour and he has another customer selling one from a TT so he's gonna see what he'll let it go for. Hopefully grab myself a bargain
