Just plugged my car into vag and it's came up with 17704 unknown error. The car is running fine and temperature is usually around 60 but has crept to 90 at times. The car has been remapped and seems to be drinking fuel. Can anyone please give me an idea as to what this may be?

Sounds like the common coolant temp sensor/thermostat issue...

The reason the car is heavy on fuel is because the ECU still thinks its in cold start and making the mixture richer... as the CTS can't tell the ECU the engine is warm enough either due to the CTS being faulty or the stat stuck open then the ECU won't know when to stop enriching the mixture.

There are loads of threads here if you plan to do it yourself else the parts are around £30 from GSF or any other motor factor plus a couple of hours labour and a bit of G12 coolant to top up the system.

Right I've purchased the cts and the thermostat. Can anybody tell me roughly where they are? Sorry for all the hassle
