    Waved goodbye yesterday.

Well just before a year of my S3, I waved goodbye yesterday.

I have to travel 650miles a week to and from work so the combination of 28mpg and 116.9p for a litre of super unleaded was costing me about 500 a month! So I decided with regret something had to give!

So unfortunately I had to get rid of my S3 and my supercharged elise.

Was an extremly sad day but I have had 2.5 years of Lotus ownership and a year of S3.

I really loved the S3 even tho it cost me an absolute fortune in parts etc.

I now have a nice BMW 123d m sport coupe which hopefully will return 50mpg and save me a few quid!

    What a bummer matey.

I'm guessing the Elise was a weekend car, couldn't you have kept that to keep you sane? I used to use an Elise as my daily car and it was not easy, wish I could have another one as a track car but it would have to be turbo charged or super charged as the 160bhpjust wasn't enough!

the elise was a bit of fun but bought it new just last Feb. We just had our first child in December so the elise had been sitting gathering leaves etc for about 3 months.

I had a finance payment on it too so decided it was a little too much money to be sitting around doing nothing! Just before trading it in I was getting sick of it as it just wasnt comfortable enough. Think this was cos the S3 was comfortable and also quick enough for every day use.

Will definately get another lotus in the future. the funny thing is I had an Elise "S" before which was only 134bhp and I liked it better than my "SC" which was 220. You had to work a little harder to get it to go quick.

I had a standard S1 elise that had a PTP 160 kit which included cams and an emerald ecu. Put out 154bhp on the rollers. It was fun for the 10 months I had it and went round the Nurburgring well but using it every day was a pain. The cams meant it was jumpy in traffic, the roof would leak in the rain, the was no room for anything in the boot, and getting in and out was doing my back in.

Anyway good luck with the BMW mate.

That car looks like a savage. There was a polish S1 Elise with the Honda type R engine supercharged putting out 600bhp!!! These cars are supercar killers at a quarter of the price.

Yes, there can't be much that could keep up with a 450 - 650bhp Elise. Especially on a twisty track. Gotta be worth 22K...

when i used to sell the Vx220's (dont crucify me plz!!) people would never 'get' that these are not daily drivers...used have people buying knowing full well they would be back months later...... these were easier to drive than elise's on the road due to the suspension geometry so god knows how you lads got on....

I knew full well that the elise wouldn't be easy to live with as a daily but I still went for it I now know that If I ever bought another it would be for sunny weekends.

Feel your pain mate, I get FAR to attached to cars, they become like a member of the family to me. I always hate having to sell them, and I had to scrap one once which was even worse.

Especially then going down to that scrap yard to get bits and bobs and seeing it there Painful.

I get far too attached aswell. When my MG (which i'd bought as my first car, age 17) was on it's last legs I thought I was going to have to scrap it. My dad saved the day and lent me the money to get it fully restored! I would've hated to send it to the scrapper.

No major plans at the moment. I will probably re-map it eventually but will do that later as if I do it now I will be bored quicker. As std its 204bhp and 400Nm of torques so not too bad its actually got the same torgues as an M3!
Re-mapped its 250bhp and 470Nm which is not gonna hang around well thru the gears anyway.

Will try and get some pics over the weekend and post them.

Animal, VX220 are lego loti's LOL

Also my Ibiza GTI is going tonight, it was set for the scrap heap but was saved last minute. Was always my intention to sort it myself but when the wee man came along I only seem to have time for him now.
My mate is taking it to put the engine in mk1 GTI so at least the heart will live on LOL
