A3/A4 are they the same?

hi all is there any difference between the audi a3 1.8t engine and the audi a4 1.8t engine due to ive bought a audi a3 1.8t but engine has blown on me thanks

Easiest thing is to go by the engine code mate to be fair....

The biggest difference is that the A3 the engine runs across the engine bay (transverse) so the drive has to be turned through 90degrees into the gearbox. The A4 has a longitudinal engine ie the block is in line with the gearbox. On that basis, I'd guess the engine mounts and drive would be trickier to connect up.

Best looking for something from a sister car to the A3 i.e. Golf Mk4, Vento, Leon, Toledo, TT, Octavia

so all the cars mentioned above are the same engine i.e golf mk 4,vento,leontoledo,tt,octavis what about the running gear as in gear box loom clocks as im thinking on completely stripping it and using everything of donner car
