Refresh

My wife inherited my S3 about 5 years ago, its now 10 years old but has covered less than 80k miles and she has every intention of keeping it a good while longer. It has been regularly and properly maintained/serviced but I was wondering what would you guys do in order to freshen her up and get her feeling/looking like new (well as close as you can with a 10 year old car anyway).

I take it the car is as standard as they come out the box right? If it's to freshen up the paintwork and interior, then you might want to have a look at the detailing section of the forum - Detailing Forum Linky - and look at some of the work carried out, which kinda restores paintwork to factory new in most cases, and a detailed valet of the interior, though tired leather maybe more difficult to restore.
If it's a mechanical refresh you are after, then I see no problem engine wise, so long as it's regularly serviced, which you say it has. Maybe the suspension would be past it's best, so a new set of shock absorbers/dampers would do wonders for handling, and get the coilsprings checked for snappage, as that's a common problem with S3's of our model.

Thanks Guys, what I should have mentioned of course is that it has been chipped (many years back) and is still performing well. I was thinking about other mechanical bits, as jojo mentioned, shockers could need doing but what about any other components? Do hoses perish over time?, bushes, ball joints etc.

Just trying to get an idea on what you guys would focus on to keep her feeling tight and fresh.

best to get it to an independent as theres no point in changing things for the sake of it, id be checking DV, pipework under bonnet for boost leaks, plugs, fault codes, wheel play, MAF and various other bits...... hours labour at a VAG specialist should identify most..... all depends what you want to spend though, £1k will buy you a nice bilstein suspension set up....
