Wanted: Rear suspension

Hi guys, I have tried to have my "huggy bear" lowered S3 raised at the back so i have a spine left after a blitz on the A338 !

It has FK coilies and the previous owner *cough.. C0CK" had it slammed and the rings wound right down so the springs are touching,

I have had a local Audi specialist look at it and have a go but there locked solid now.

Does anyone have a set of rear coilies. (stock accepted) that i can pur-chase so i can stick some luggage in my boot with out worrying if the rear window will smash !?

check on ebay mate, theres a couple of sets floating around on there ranging from £160 - £600
 
Hey dude, im in Worcester this weekend actually, any chance of a fellow S3 owner take a look possibly talk about some options..

Checked on ebay. its hard to find just the rear and tbh... the FK/HK imports are quite cheap compaired to my old S3 which had Eibach coilies.. However i will be mroe than happy to get a cheap set... the Long haired SGT MAJ isnt much impressed either.... apparently me giving her a cushion just wont cut it.. :(

so whats happened is someone has wound the rears right down and now they are seized and you cant move em?
 
yeah pretty much, the coils are touching and all the vibrations and bumps come straight through the car, bit worried for MOT and the longevity of my girfriends willness to ride in "Daisy"

coils are touching, thats really not good, for the car or your spine!!

have you had the dampers disconnected at all? is there no gaps between any of the coils at all?
 
yeah the coils are touching... so basically unless there is a drop and some rebound there is no actual rear suspension... The dude who had it before me was a complete knob....

well if you're around worcester at the weekend il gladly take a look but like i said dont know how much help i can be?

dont really know what to suggest here mate, my only idea was if you could get spring compressors on the coils to take the tension and then take the dampers off and do it that way but from the sounds of it that wont work, no where for the compressors to latch on to?
 
Well both times two seperate garages have tried the car has been jacked up and the springs on full rebound. I suppose you could compress them and try work loose the two locking rings above.... may take a bath full of WD40 !
 
yer thats what i was thinking mate, compress them and try and get them out that way, whip the dampers off too
 
aye roger dodger.... you have a means of doing that or know a place in Worcester that can ?
 
na not really....

tbh i dont use garages in worcester none of them are really interested in looking at modified cars so they'll either fob you off with a loda bull or just rip you off instead, if i were you id go to a garage you trust or do it yourself
 
I had FK's on my old car and they locked up. If you go to low with them the adjuster comes off the thread. Soak the threads and spring platform in WD40 and get an adjuster spanenr on them and they should start to move (slowly but they will move )

Unlucky..... cheap price too.... i'll keep my eyes peeled.... Standard rear springs are same as TT and around £36 each from GSF.... not sure home much standard shocks would be but i cant see them being that exspensive
 
The springs should be fine. its the locking rings on the rear that wont budge...

Hmmm im thinking steel coilie spanners and a massive graunch bar........

Even if i did get a new set im thinking i would need to get those rings off anyhow.. which would just solve the problem with my set...
