Engine CEL on and car very jerky

Hey guys, on way home engine CEL warning light came on. Car still boosts but is v jerky, infact its jerky even below turbo zone. At one point CEL started flashing as well. Anyone know where to start

sorry still in mazda speak, check engine light. Same as engine managment light I guess, the yellow picture of the engine that usually sends me into a spiral of depression

No worries.

Sounds like a coil pack has blown mate, you just need to find out which one, try and get it on vag com if possible.

Hm thats not too bad then if so, how much we talking for a coilpack?

Ideally, replace all four coils, as they tend to have a herding tendency and go in twos

Cost is about 25 squid per coil - make sure to get the original Audi items as the 2 quid you save on copies isn't worth it.

To find out exactly which coils is dead, it's best to scan the car using VagCom or similar.

Thanks guys found a specialist open tommorow so am booked in, if it does indeed turn out to be coilpacks I will replace all 4. I'm hoping the specialist will stock coilpacks, if not do stealers stock them?

£100 doesn't sound too bad, last time I had a engine managment light was on an RX8... result... new engine!

It was indeed a coil failiure causing cylinder 3 to misfire. Thanks guys spot on diagnosis. I got all 4 changed and fitted for £170 which I think is a bit OTT but at least they did the job quickly and on a Saturday morning. Cheers again

Thats about right, £30 a coil pack plsu an hours labour, sounds fair to me. Nice one
