    Fault codes

    fault codes with vag!
once the problem has been fixed, do the codes need to be reset in order for the part to function properly
i am changing my my front lambda senser, said it is nackerd on vag,
so today once i replace it should it work properly or do i need to have the codes reset
any suggestions on the best way to replace, it looks a pig to get into with a spanner, i have big arms and hands to.

The fault codes being present don't stop a component from working correctly, rather that if something malfunctions and throws up a fault then that information is just stored elsewhere in a memory bank.
IIRC, if a part registers a fault then works correctly over the next so many ignition switch-ons that that fault is then cleared from the fault memory anyway.
