Hello chaps, put my clutch down last night and it snapped! A small white clip came out of the pedal and now it just stays down. Does anyone know if it's just a cable or does it sound like the entire clutch has now gone - it was feeling stiff over the last few days?

Also are there any decent audi specialists in the Hounslow area?

Please help!

I don't think you clutch has gone, the clutch pedal part has broke, it's a common problem. Do a search for clutch pedal or similar for the fix.

yes it is the bracket on the pedal that has snapped. the bits cost less than £12 from the dealer and the repair is easy if a little fiddly

Thanks guys sounds very reassuring. Only problem now is, how do I get it to a trusted specialist in my area? I know alot of users rate Fontain in Iver (which is closer to home) but getting it there will be a mission. West London Audi are asking silly amounts, does anyone know of a closer specialist?

You may well find the slave cylinder has gone, sounds like a well documneted problem on here -which happened to me 12months or so ago. best to set aside a few hundred quid and may be even replace the clutch if you think it's due soon. will save you some money in the long run due to labour costs involved.

Hmmm, me think you're right wannabe. Cheers. Need to get it to a specialist who knows what he's doing

Judging by Ryu's description, it sounds to me the pedal has snapped, he said something snapped, and a white plastic dropped down, so I would look under the dash first. And if you actually used the search function, you'd have found plenty of info on it, as it's a common problem like I mentioned earlier.

Have a look at this thread, and see if it's your problem? If you can use a spanner at all, it's a cheap fix, and can be done outside your house, if not, get a mate to do it.

PS. if it's the slave cylinder, then huge apologies.

Just to update; I got the new pedal fitted in and the mechanic reckons the clutch is indeed on it's way out as it's really heavy causing a strain on the pedal hence it snapping. It's nowhere near as springy as it used to be.

I'm being quoted £600 to have a new one fitted.

It gets worse, had a slow puncture in the back tyre, broke a bolt whilst taking the tyre off and now I'm running on the skinny spare tyre with four bolts and a require a new wheel hub?

Any advisories are most welcome :(
