When I was larking about in the snow on the way home, I noticed that when the ABS kicks in the headlights would dim slightly. Is this normal behaviour?
Can anyone shed some light (cough) on what is happening?

Oh and the car is a 2000 A3 Quattro.

Nope, I mean ABS. My car doesn't have ESP...
But do you have an idea if it was the ESP?

Maybe the way it works causes a huge drain in the battery. Much the same (but greater) as when you turn on the heated rear screen or try and put an up window up. Mine dim but only VERY slightly when I do the above.

Update..
Today I noticed that the first turn of the starter was a bit slower than normal.
So went to halfords and had them check it with their fancy Bosch tester. And yep the battery is knackered. I've been to the local Audi dealers and ordered up a new battery (£80), but are the cheaper alternatives any good?

although the halfords battery's are a bit cheaper they are also a bit bigger and a bit of a squeeze to fit in the sleeve/hole in the S3
