Tyre Pressures

Hi, I'm new here and I've just bought a '99 A3 1.8T Sport which has got 18 inch alloys, i was wondering what sort of tyre pressures I should be running?

36 psi i think, i put in 34 cause i'm never too sure.

I HAVE 225/40/18. and i put 43 psi in. it say to put 50 in on the tyres?

the ride feels fine. am i doing something wrong?

Holy crap!!! the PSI rating on the side of the tyre is the MAX amount the tyre can take.

Drop your pressures now. 43 is way too high!!

ok i thought that if the tyre pressure was a little low it would wear the tyres quicker?

Yeah, but they will wear just as quick if they are over inflated. They will wear in the middle loads.

If the tyre pressure is too high it will wear too quickly in the middle of the tyre, I think anyway. Whereas, if it's too low it will wear unevenly elsewhere. Best thing to do would be to put the correct pressure in.
