Also something i've always wanted, In the past i've sent things out to a mate that did all my welding but he recently he's had some person problems and went back to his birth place.

I think i love car porn more than i love people porn, and that's alot :) haha.

Well the time has come and seeing we have a long weekend i thought it would be good idea to fit my AEB head and GTX

A few small issues but the main problem is the the clearance between the turbo and bulk head but hope to sort that out with a modified dog bone bust

here are a few pics of the last few days

lol i know all the big turbo boys are doing updates and it was a perfect day to update mine as well

I must say its a big *** turbo and i may have to modify the strut brace to clear the turbo

Looks good Andrew, what have you done to your AEB head?

Take it the boost pipe sits higher on the CTS kit to clear the wastegate? Boost pipes are my world at the minute! Lol

what mod are you doin to the dogbone?

Just ported the exhaust ports to the max, the inlets have been smoothed and blended in the seats to the port walls, knife edge seamer splits

It seams to sit higher but its not all bolted down yet as i'm modifying the engine mount and repairing the threads as i managed to strip them with the tiny K04 hybrid

I plan to shorten it thus bringing the top end of the engine forward in the bay giving the turbo more clearance

im glad im not doing a big turbo build, it sounds childish but i dont think i could sleep at night with the excitement, and id want it all done and finished in a fortnight lol.

Sorted out my clearance problems with the turbo

I had a word with Badger5 and Bill suggested i tilt the engine by modifying the dog bone bush, I did do a test and tilting the engine wasn't a option as it still hit objects in the engine bay. Then i thought about the good old days when i have my old Ford Orion with a 2.1 Zetec in it. The orion had a dry sump on it so i could lower the engine in the bay so i thought i would give it a go with the S3.

I set to work and modified the the engine mounts a tad and made some spacers with the engine mounts back in and a drop of 12mm we now have clearance, with only the engine mount and gear box mount, no dog bone i started to rock the engine by hand... We have clearance !! so glad i didn't get a GT35 now with this kit.

More to come

Are you running a shallow sump Andrew? Just these cars arent known for theyre clearance to start with and if youve lowered it 12mm you may have problems? Most people try to raise theyre lumps to lower the cars. Sure youve got it sorted, just what came to mind.

Good work mate.... just need to watch that sump now... they are low enough as it is lol...

I'm assuming that housing is larger than the housing on a GT2871? I had one previously and it was pretty mammoth:

Please excuse the poor beer choice.

What size exhaust housing have you got Andrew?

Same as mine, yours looks slightly taller, probs because its newer.

Well i've finished the install of the GTX3076r

I still wanted the standard look of the engine with all the cover, a little trimming to the main cover was needed as the boost pipe sits higher because of my external waste gate

Image0085.jpg

I'm now installing the AEM WMI then its just oil, filter, and water/antifreeze

All that and one sodding photograph??? LOL ;P

Looking good. I didn't expect it to look so OEM given the huge turbo, waste gate and all the pipe work you've got back there.

Good work mate (despite the lack of photos!! lol...)

Bet you will be glad to get her all fired up and mapped....

<tuffty/>

Good work Andrew well done mate!

Cant wait to see what this kicks out!!

Did you modify the strut bar or just cover it?

Have you got a transition gasket or have you just bolted up your smallport to the AEB?

And.... Where are you gona cram in that WMI kit?

Me too

No modification at all to the strut brace

Port matched the small port inlet to the AEB head, will be making a custom inlet at some point

Tank and pump in the boot

nice one mate. DYNO DYNO DYNO! then map then DYNO DYNO DYNO! (Jerry Springer Style)
