ever since i bought my s3, it has had the g28 & g40 fault code on the vag com. After changing both the impulse sensor and the hall sensor the fault was still there. This could only mean one thing, the timing was out ;(.
Took it to a recomended garage in my area, and they told me the timing tensioner had gone, so after that and a new chain fitted, the code has gone, no more juddering, just pulls all the way to the red line
