A3 1.8T - Turbos?

Hi, i'm new here.

I'm desperate to buy an A3 1.8T in the next couple of months, but don't really know a great deal about their potential problems? Hopefully there isn't any, but could anyone tell me if there are some common problems to look out for? i.e. does the turbo need changing after 'so many' miles?

hello mate. welcome to the forum!

I dont think there is a millage on turbos if they are looked after. depends if the person before has done things they dont like.

eg - going over around 3000rpm before the temp hits 90
- going for a burn and then not letting the car cool
down prop.

as for potentail probs theres not many, just make sure if you get one with high millage then make sure they have had the cambelt done. usually needs doing about 80k
