Why does the pre2000 box have an aditional cold air intake? Do you think that the older airbox is more efficient and/or gives any gains?

Reason Im asking is because Neil (BalckS3) has a standard s3 that seems to be kicking out loads of power, only differences I could see where this additional air feed and a different N75 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I am going to be modding the airbox anyways, but I might as well buy 1 that already has the holes in place to save me butchering my existing box /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Cheers, Greg

i think its for auxillary airpump used on start up on early cars.

If your reffering to a 20-25 mm pipe going into the bottom of the airbox on the maf end.

Does any1 know the part number for the old S3 air box?
