My '99 S3 Inspection Service indicator has been flashing for a couple weeks now.
It's due 80k service. Having read some good things re. AMD on this forum I was considering taking it there.

I emailed AMD for a quote.. the service is £280 + VAT
Haldex oil change is £98 + VAT (I think that's right)

Anyway, I got a quote from my local Audi Stealer to compare...
£320 inc VAT for service... Haldex oil change worked out cheaper than AMD!!!

I worked out that going to AMD saves my roughly £20 over the Stealer. But then my stealer is literaly just around the corner and AMD is a good hour's drive away, so the £20 is lost on petrol....I emailed AMD back asking if they could be more competitve in pricing... and I think they got insulted they've not bothered to get back to me!!

Do I assume from this that AMD don't offer competitve servicing prices because their main business is upgarding and modification?

I want to save money by opting out of the Stealership servicing, but at the same time I don't want a bunch of cowboys working on my motor. Does anyone have any recommendations in the NW London area? Otherwise I may have to bite my lip and take it to the Stealer for peace of mind.

As you say, I guess its because servicing isn't a core part of their business /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It maybe worth you looking in the Dealer Forum to see if there's local specialist that can save you some money.

To be honest mate, i'd rather take it to AMD for peace of mind!
I'm always suspicious of dealers, always think i'm gonna get screwed! Could just be me though....

I've had my S3 serviced at AmD twice this year and been very satified with the cost and service.

If you haven't had a response to your email it may be because they are extremely busy. I was there from 9am to 6.30pm yesterday and I don't think Ed had a moment's rest.

Yeah, I got the impression they're very busy.
How much did the services cost you, MingBlue?

I know what you mean, I always think I'm paying for the upkeep of their premises as well as the work on the car... also my experiences witth VW has tought me that just because it's a main stealer doesn't mean you're getting the best service.

The positive thing is that you can kick up a fuss at stealers if not satisfied. Kick up a big enough fuss and usually can get some kind of compensation.

Audi charge more than £98 for a haldex oil and filter change.
It is something like £50+ for haldex oil and £120+ for haldex oil and filter change.

I've just had a price of £80 for the haldex oil change!

I have found that the prices down my way do tend to be cheaper than those in England!

Rich.
