Ticking Noise

Hi

I have an S3 which has developed a ticking noise which is heard most prominently at, erm, tickover.

Speeds up and slows down with the engine revs.

Anyone know what this would be?

Charcoal filter maybe??

lift the bonnet and have a listen around the offside near the front, between the screenwash bottle and the engine coolant bottle.

remove the offside plastic cover (one phillips screw at the rear i think) and nestled between screenwash, coolant and power steering fluid bottles is a black box with a wiring connector on top. when i checked mine i could feel it clicking as well as hear it.

If that is where the noise is it is most likely from the charcoal filter, apparently a little solenoid there. I had it into see the audi mechanic when i heard it, turns out it wasn't a fault. you basically just have to live with it.

What's a charcoal filter anyway? I thought I had an INTERNAL combustion engine?!
