Hi Guys,

I was considering looking at an S3 for sale in northern ireland but just wondered if there were any issues I need to know about. I presume as it's part of the UK then there shouldn't be anything really apart from the fact that it will have an NI plate. I've checked as much as I can otherwise by calling the owner (I have quite a major check list to go through and he answered everything openly), the local dealership who sold the car originally (they have maintained it since) and also Audi Cust Services. Everything seems to tie up nicely with no "red flag" issues.

Just hope that it will be worth the ferry fare should I go to see it otherwise it's £140 wasted !

Last week I week to Glasgow and Manchester to look at two S3's but neither were in a good condition never mind immaculate - IMO of course. Bare in ming I live near Edinburgh so that was a round trip of about 550 miles and £80 down the swanee. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif
It's just lucky I didn't have any expense when selling my VW Corrado as I sold it within a week without advertising except at the local VW specialist /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Any advice appreciated

TIA

hi no slo jo

There's an silver s3 for sale in stirling, y reg, black leather, 6 cd system, cruise control etc?

I'm afraid thats one of the few colours I really don't want. I just feel there are way too many silver cars out there and for me the S3 looks too bland in that colour. Other colours I'm not wanting are green, black and grey. Not trying to restart the colour discussion it's just my personal preference.
thanks for the info though Keith and I'll post pics and info when I get one.

Hey thanks for that pabloa3 . It is actually a private sale and there would be a transfer of pate required as the owner is keeping the private plate from the car. It would get re-registered on another NI plate but that's fine by me as it disguises the cars age - it would be a 2002 51 plate here. I'll speake to our DVLA and see if I still require to fill out a form or if the change over of owner on the V5 would be enough.

Hi All,

I actually bought my S3 from a friend in Northern Ireland and knew the whole history of the car from new which was great.

There are no problems with "importing" a car to the mainland from NI, you just go to the DVLA and fill in the form and pay for the tax, nothing else and get a nice new printed tax disc.

No bringing any more yellow ones into this country though as I've had enough of seeing a whole two others on the road!

You'll never regret buying one either... except maybe when the MAF, DV and ****** suspension F"£* UP... but hey, still the most fun I've ever had in a road car.
