Possible electrical short/noise when car is off

Hi guys,

I put a new battery in today for the first time in 9 months while my cars been in storage. As soon as i connected the battery up the car made a weird humming noise from the engine bay, the lights came on for no reason and my rear windscreen wiper turns for no reason too. The car wont start and the dash doesnt light up however with my last battery the dash lit up but didnt crank the engine. The new battery is not cranking the engine either... any ideas anyone?? bit of dilemma!

Are you sure you have connected it the right way?

as in positive negative terminals? yeah they are right! didnt hook up my sound system though do to risk of blowing my amps...

What battery are you using, you sure it aint faulty???
