Bit of a dilemma - Audi or Golf - HELP?

Hi guys your input and advice will be much appreciated.
Im looking to purchase an Audi A3 tdi 130bhp, golf IV tdi 130/150bhp.
Should i go for the cheapest one which is the golf 130bhp or Audi 130bhp which is about 500quid more and put a Revo remap on them to bring them up to 170ish. Or go for the golf 150bhp which is another 500quid again and not bother with the re-map.
Has anybody had any experience with any of these cars?
    What would you go for?

    Cheers

If it were me I'd go for the Anniversary golf Tdi 150. Nice looking car out of the box and more exclusive than a standard golf Tdi or Audi equivelant.

My brothers got the gttdi 150 mk4. Not a bad car. I can only compare it to the S3. It shares the same chassis but they couldnt be further apart. I can see why the Audi is more expensive.

Golf is very wallowy, barge like. Interior aint as good as the Audi.

The leather seats in the golf are more comforable(softer) and the steering is lighter which is more enjoyable for steady driving.

Size wise very similar, luggage, passenger etc wise.

I think you can make the Golf look better more easily too.

I say 150 golf and revo it. Or A3 if you specifically like the looks of it.

I would prob go for the Anniversary too, they still seem to be holding their value, even high milers, compared to the equivalent 'basic' MK4. If I did go for the A3, it would be a TDI Quattro in Sport trim, but there doesn't seem to be many of them around.

Thanks for the advice guys. Had a look at the 150 Anni's still retaining their value. 7k seems a bit much for a 6 yr old car though. Anybody had any experience of the A4 Avants 130bhp........my dog would probably be happier with one of these!!

Could get an A4 Avant and a cheap(er) remap. That would probably be enough with your dog in the back!

I recently was choosing between either the petrol 1.6 Golf SE or the 1.6 Audi SE. I was trying to find a Golf as A3's in decent condition are quite hard to find close enough to go to easily. I was looking at a 1.9 TDI Golf SE, solely because you can remap it as the VAG stuff responds really well to remaps.

I don't think a Revo remap is really necessary as there are a lot of decent mapping companies who use a generic map. I'd only go with Revo if you were modifying and adding other performance upgrades. That's my opinion, anyway.

I'd probably go for the A3 as I prefer it, and the Golf was almost my fallback choice. But then a GT TDI Golf is really nice looking with the right alloys, (IMO, anyway).
