My Egr/secondary air pump on my 99" s3 has been noisy for quite a while, and has now eventually packed up. I'm guessing its siezed up. Is it worth removing it totally?
i'm not going to replace it but am worried if it has siezed and there is still power being fed to it, could it cause the wiring to get hot and possibly melt?
Have any of you removed the pump from your car? Or shall i just 'pull the plug' off incase?
Cheers for any advise jay.

Wont melt etc as its only on for a few mins at start up then shuts off, just rip it out and save abit of weight :)

Check Engine Light.

The secondary air pumps are one of the most useless things on VAG cars, noisy and prone to breaking. They're not even that important, but as Byzan mentioned a faulty one will throw an engine management light.

Depends, some cars throw them up so dont, could always use a resistor!
