How the hell!!!

My rear left shock has gone through wheel arch.
What i believe to be the end of the damper has punched a hole through the wheel arch!!!

I'm thinking how the hell has this happened!

As the shock springs back up the end of the rod moves away (out of the hole) and then back again.

Any ideas people, surely the damper hasn't punched through the top mount?

what car is it on mate as s3's and qts have irs and diffent setup then the normail a3 as it has a torsion beem, has your spring snappet aswell?

not yet, as havn't taken shock off to check the damage but can see the metal rod poking through in the boot.

it's an A3 5 door with the Raceland Coilover kit

have no pics at mo, can you not just picture a metal rod sticking through the boot underneith the sub in the left-hand side of the boot cubby hole?

Also just to clarrify something i have realised, the thread on the rod is longer than the stock shocks and therefore sits higher up in arch but can't work out why otherside hasn't doen this.

Show pictures of it poking through the boot too?
