Cam belt prices

Its coming to that time that I need to have my cam belt changed, my question is what do you guys think is a reasonable cost for this to be done?

Ive been quoted by Poole Audi £329 haven't had chance to shop around any further yet but is this a reasonable cost? (with that i get a courtesy car )

Also I think ive read some where that its adviceable to get the water pump changed at the same time is this correct?

Ive just had mine done on an audi a3 tdi se 130. £440 including a full service. I think £329 is resonable.

Hi mate yeah they say to get the water pump done too as the old ones are prone to leaking/breaking and for the sake of another 30-40 part iirc,+ the new ones have a metal impeller or something which combats the old problem , as if you get just your cambelt done then your water pump plays up, you have to or the labour again to get to it,

I think i payed about for water pump all tensioners etc from a specialist, sounds quite good from a main dealer,

Not to sure exactly as i had full service done, by a recommended speacilist what people recommend,ihad full majour service inc, haldex brakes, cambelt new aux belt etc, but i think it was about that for the cambelt part as i have a written invoice somewhere of parts and labour for each job they done,i the whole thing came to a shade under £700 iirc why does the cambelt sound alot?

Forgot to say mine was the cambelt + kit, and water pump. i think without the service it was around 290.

Had mine done not long ago and it was £250 all in including a new water pump.

That was by Midlands VW in Cannock

I'm also approaching cambelt time & have gathered some prices for having the cambelt replaced together with tensioners etc & water pump:

APS £440
C&T Enterprises £388
Midland VW £380
Volkspeed £355

Not had it done yet though.
