Took my car in to get repaired and got it back to find there was no wheel locking nut in the car!

Gave them a call and they said "oh didnt we put it back, we ll have a look to see if its around somewhere"

get a phone call saying "no coulnt find it, it was a tite one it may be on the wheel still"

so i checked and it aint....siht!

Got home and looked at the instrustions, to my pleasant surprise there was a box i had to fill in with the number of the key, didnt know that was there.so...

Phoned up the manufacturer and explained the situation and asked if there was anything i could do!

all they siad was "no", well helpful! so i asked if there was anyother way to get them off.."no. they are designed not to come off" and that was it!

Does anyone know what i can do to get the bolts out and by a new set????

or am i the only stupid person who forgot to write teh code down?????

please help people

most people dont write the code down, got two options for you they are availiable on ebay make sure you get origional ones! you can take the car to your main dealer and they can use the master set to tell you what n. your key is and trust me there is a master set! toget them off yourself you need a ford head bolt tool socket whack it in with a hammer and crack it off with a bar, tis is how main dealers do it! any probs just post it.

ok, well they were after market ones so i guess going to the dealers is not an option????

sorry for the stupididty but what is a "ford head bolt tool socket " and where can i get one? is that what you meant ot get off ebay?

Thanks for teh advice by the way

go back to the repairer and say you lost it you sort it, if they lost your locking nut why are you trying to fix there mistake

because youlive in surrey i cant help you but i guess you use drift bridge audi? the ford head bolt tool will not help you as you do not have genuine bolts on your vehicle, yu could take it to a tyre specialist they may be able to remove them for you!. did the garage do brakes when you were there, and if they did then you really need to kick up a stink, if it happended like that at our garage then we would of helped you and not been that dishonest!

yeah i know but i just dont want my wheels to get [censored] or anything else come to mind!

at this stage im thinking of the phrase "if you want sopmething done proberly then do it yourself!"

Yeah driftbridge is my local dealder (and ive been there once, and i doubt il go back! the geezer actually sighed as i walked in cos he was watching the tele and i wanted to ask him a q?)

Il prob just tell him to sort it, or il sort it and get him to pay for them! or try my local tyre fitting place then!

Thanks for all teh advice lads

That's exactly what I was thinking! What would you say if they scratched it badly in there? you wouldn't pay for it would ya? Hope you get it sorted - by that I mean they sort it for ya!

Good luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When I managed to do the same on my last car, I went to a specialist wheel and tyre place (Elite Wheels and Tyres). They removed the old locking nuts and put on some new ones. Not cheap though at £50 but it's an option.

Right People...

still got nowhere. Went to a tyre and wheel specialist and they said that these nuts were the only ones that they cannot get off without damaging the wheels by using an Air Chisel.

Tried drilling...no good
Tried Hammering a socket on...no good
Tried manual chiseling...no good

I know most people will say get the bloke to sort it, but he dont know what to do and dont want my wheels to get fcuked. Just want them off now!!!1

I would greatly appreciate any help please guys..Thank you

I tried to take a photo but it fcuked up!

i have attempted to draw what it looks like?

Does it make sense?

Pelase help....

the studs fit into the holes which allows the key to turn the nut?

Looks almost the same as my old Pug locking nuts!

that looks like sport rader locking wheel nuts have they got a moving shroud on the out side of the bolt, if they are sport rader then the best thing you can do is get a socket i think a 19mm or there abouts with double hex and a BIG hammer welt the socket over the locking wheel bolt which will crush the outer shroud then crack off the bolt, what type of wheels have you got??

Okay, so not the type you can use a gator grip on.

Last time I had this prob, I welded a standard type nut on and the undid that. I'm surprised the garage couldn't do that.

There are tools for this purpose. They are like big easy outs. Garage should have these too.

yeah but they have to be drilled!! some VW dealers have sport rader master sets as thay used to fit these from factory might be worth trying that first!

find a smack head, they'll soon have it off - joking aside, if the guy's worried about messin ya wheel - say tuff sh!t, get it off, and get it refurbed (I know that's not the nicest method of sorting it and ain't helpin ya....) hmmmmm...it would be good if u could find out what brand of lockin nut it is - as the guys say there, perhaps it's the VW one? worth askin a garage?
