    what sort of power does 256g/s equate to on yours Paul? AM I right in thinking your maf has ben rescalled so the standard gs/0.8 formula is meaningless?

    Actually no... no MAF scaling at all... before the recent mods I was getting a repeatable 335bhp at around 1.5bar... airflow was just under 270gs IIRC.... essentially means it could be 320bhp at 10psi...

    Not going to get a run on the dyno until next week now but she certainly pulls like she did before (give or take the fact I have been driving a 1.3 mk2 Golf for a month so the butt dyno maybe a little out)... not as torquey though which is understandable considering the low boost...

    How accurate this is remains to be seen but I am running the same map as before, all I have changed is hardware and airflow tallies with the figures I got from Bill's dyno...

    I think you can do a maff adaption with the liquid, not sure how it works...

    Thats for when you fit larger MAF tubes... takes into account the lower airspeed you would get so that Liquid can report the airflow reading more accurately... has no affect on the map...

    Would I be able to tap a M12 with a 1.5 pitch then into the same whole even though the original thread has gone so the diameter of the whole is slightly bigger because theres no thread in it. I was going to tap a M14 in it then use a M14 bolt.

    If there is no thread left then running an M12 tap down it won't fix anything... I had just cross threaded the top few threads on mine so just 'cleaned' the thread with the tap. If you have stripped the thread then thats a different thing altogether... helicoil or larger bolt is required really... need to check if an M14 will fit through the mount first and if there is enough material left surrounding the M14 hole to maintain strength in the mount...

    There is a bit of thread at the top of the hole so I might be able to tap a M12 x 1.5 and use the original bolt. If that dont work il try to drill the whole and tap a new thread in it. From looking at the link Dave just linked ( cheers ) I will use a 12mm drill bit and then tap a M14 x 2 as I doubt il be able to get any fine M14's locally.

    If it wasnt near enough impossible to get the mount out without taking any of the cambelt stuff off id get a new one. Has anyone got the mount out with everything else in place.

    Used the Liquid gauge to monitor BHP on the way to work this morning... again I cannot comment on accuracy here as tbh I haven't done a before and after but I am still only running actuator pressure (on mine about 0.7/0.8 bar or 10/11psi in old money) and while there is noticeably less torque there is a definite pick-up of 'urgency' once above 5.5k so the extra breathing afforded by the large port head and all the other mods appear to be paying off... as you would expect

    I took a pic of this mornings peak reading...

    To put this into context.... I have had recent Liquid readings (prior to the large port/turbine etc upgrades) of 350/360bhp when running at 1.7bar dropping down to 340 ish (can't remember the exact figures) when I dropped the boost down to 1.5bar which is fairly consistent with the 347bhp I got running high boost and 335bhp running 1.5bar on Bill's dyno prior to this batch of mods...

    This is still largely speculative of course and can only be corroborated by running the car on the dyno but I must say I am pretty pleased at how things have turned out so far and that things are on track for some decent power from my setup...

    I would estimate a 300bhp number from 0.7bar boost myself..
    shall we place bets on what the dyno says?

    .7bar, 1.3bar, 1.8bar

    LOL... yeah... really need to check what Liquid suggests vs actual on the dyno sometime.... should be able to tweak it in a bit using the MAF adjustments I guess...

    Certainly feels as quick higher up the rev range as before but that is butt dyno vs actual dyno... what you doing lunch time Friday Bill? LOL I'll have it all setup for yah ready ;P

    OK, you're on.

    I'm going with:

    .7bar = 305

    1.3bar = 355

    1.8bar = 401

    (Disclaimer: these are completely made up figures....)

    I'd be interested to do this to be fair.

    Nice bit of cold air gave me 326 on liquid on the way to work this morning with 312 ft/lbs.

    Always been interested in the accuracy of these figures.

    I am however, impressed with the accuracy of the boost gauge on the liquid when in AGU mode. Seems about spot on.

    No mate... its the actual hose... the real irony here is that they actually made and shipped the thing yesterday... just took them 3 weeks to read up how to do that

    In fairness to SFS they told me they were having problems with black materials which accounted for the first week or so and I have no reason to disbelieve them but there was obviously some logistical insanity going on in-between them getting the material and actually sending the product out... they were always courteous and apologetic on the phone and have also supplied me with some Murray Corp constant tension stainless steel clips worth around 15 as an apology for the delay....

    Would I use them again? I don't know... I bought the hose from them as they were about the only people that did a size close to what I needed and as it was listed on their website one would assume that they should have had the capability to turn it around fairly quickly...

    Should I need to deal with SFS again it would most certainly start with calling them first as the communication through the website seems lacking...

    I should be more pissed off than I am but the hose is here, SFS have made an actual effort to compensate for the delay and my car is running fine... its been a funny old month since I started this round of modifications with plenty of ups and downs but its all coming together now and I look forward to ADI on Saturday and getting the old girl on the dyno (if only to prove Bill wrong... 300bhp pfffttt!!) ;P

    didnt you have 412 or something at some point?

    thers too many bloody pages to find things lol. and that was before the throttle body and ic pipe work. or was that on a ridiculous amount of boost.

    nope... that was a stroked (2ltr) LCR that Bill mapped recently.... similar spec to mine... 0.82 (ish) A/R hotside but T25 flanged (like mine)... would be nice to get something similar figures wise but I am happy I have done all I can to attain the best results out of my setup...

    ohhh right, i thought you got that figure when you made your first exhaust before you put the milltek one on. didn't you get some good figures even when you had stock exhaust on or was it just estimated through maf readings.

    I did get a reading of 383bhp at one point but I think the dyno was reading quite happily and not sure it was repeatable... I have got 345bhp from a Dyno Dynamics dyno and 347bhp from Bill's dyno but both runs were not really repeatable as the engine was getting hot running the boost needed to attain those figures... the most airflow I have seen is 292gs where the MAF was pretty much flat out... I am logging airflow on the way home from work so will see where it is now bearing in mind I am running much less boost than before...

    Before the recent mods I was getting a consistent 335bhp from Bill's dyno at around 1.5bar... this is the benchmark I will use to gauge the increase from the mods I have just done...

    Had the car on the dyno this afternoon (thanks Bill ) and there are a few things to sort out.... Firstly there didn't appear to be any preload on the actuator and the actuator itself is a higher rated one that I had on previously and I was getting boost creep at high revs.... I adjusted this and hoping the actuator will go a bit softer (which they do) after a little while... using the softer of the 2 springs on the UNOS and getting a steady 1.5 bar but.... did a check on the boost pre FMIC and after (manifold pressure) and there is quite a drop... some can be attributed to the FMIC itself which is normal but a little higher than expected but there is a big difference at lower RPM as the turbo spools.... Bill has all the logs and the figures etc so I cannot really say much more than that at the moment but one thing he does think is an issue is I could be losing boost through the DV initially then after its caught up with itself all is better... so I an going to try a stiffer spring, Bill had to do this to a similarly specced (albeit a stroked 1.8t to 2ltr) Leon recently...

    Bill also found that I was getting no timing pull so dialled in more timing advance and was upping the power all the time until the ECU had a paddy and pulled 11's!!!! not good!

    So just reset back to 0 additional advance (over what the map has) and going to start again... the fuelling isn't too bad, wideband lambda helps out a bit here too... it is going very rich at high RPM though killing the power which is a shame... this could well be map related...

    Basically spent the afternoon gathering data to see where the map needs tweaking and to see why power is still a little off... few more things to try bearing in mind the map wasn't quite finished before and I have changed quite a bit of the engines characteristics now with the large port head and larger turbine etc so its to be expected...

    Car is running ok normally although a little iffy under boost atm... didn't show so much on the dyno but on the road its noticable...

    ...and I washed the car ready for ADI tomorrow

    Couple of shots of the engine bay with the SFS hose fitted...

    SFS even sent me a matching Murrays clip for the other boost pipe which I fitted when I got home...

    See you all tomorrow at ADI :D

    Still running actuator pressure and not done owt since the dyno runs on Friday afternoon... got a white spring from Forge and fitted that to the DV but until I up the boost and Bill is able to fit me in to start the mapping 'tweaks' then thats about it for now....

    As for the clutch, its certainly grabbier than std... I have stalled the car once and nearly stalled on numerous other occasions when pulling away a bit smartish.... under normal use though its controllable with a very slight judder at the last point of uptake on the pedal... certainly liveable... as for handling the power, I will have to wait until the cars mapping is sorted... the car is perfectly drivable at the moment but only running 0.7bar boost so not fast as such...

    I will of course update when I have something to report...
