Sunroof has a mind of its own

My sunroof for some strange reason refuses to close sometimes when i have it tilted. I turn the dial and it only goes so far and stops, i have to keep using the fob to close it.

any ideas?

You could have worn or dirty dial contacts. It may be worth while to give it a blast of electrical contact cleaner or take it apart and give a service /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I had a problem in my 97 A4.
There are two known causes (according to my main stealer).
1. Bad contact on the multiconnector to the circuit board the has the knob in it. They told me they clean the contacts and re crimp them.
2. The dial is actially two concentric rings on copper for the preset adjusment. On mine, one had worn through completely. Got another light insert complete from breakers which fixed it. Take it off and have a look,
