    washer fluid leak!

    I attempted to unblock my rear window washer pipe by putting a bike pump on the tube at the rear of the car and tried to blow it back as i could not get enough suction to pull the blockage through.
    In doing this i must have blown a pipe apart which is at the front nearside (oposite side to the washer resivoir) when i use my washer jets it just squirts out somewhere underneath the air box.
    I have jacked the car up but cannot see where abouts it is leaking, before i remove the airbox etc i wondered if anybody could shed some light on where the pipe has blown off.
    Sorry its a bit long winded, i hope someone can help....

    Funnily enough, I've got the exact same issue. I'm going to jack the car up this weekend and have a look for myself. If you dont get an answer before then I'll let you know.

    ok there is a conduit under the air box and there is a joint in there. Remove air box and the rhs strut brace fixing. the conduit is S shaped starting under the strut brace down the bulkhead and under the air box. Remove the lid off it and it in the middle of the S.

    its the pipe with 01 . 0 on it in the 2nd pic its just a push together coupling

    There is a join in the cable run underneath the airbox. You need to take the airbox out, then you'll see a black plastic cable duct that runs from the battery under the airbox and then up the bulkhead before disappearing under the scuttle panel. If you prise the cover off, in amongst all the wires is the pipe to the rear washer and a join which pops apart. Mine has gone about 5 times - in the end I used some silicone and a pipe clip off a brake line to join it together.

    I wrapped some black tape around mine to stop it popping again

    Yep, same here. Put some black tape around it and secured it with a jubilee clip to stop it popping off again. Works a treat now!

    hey guys, apart from the join under the airbox where is there other joins as mine has split where it joins onto the motor on the boot lid and i traced it back to where it runs across the roof at the back and didn't notice any more joins but its pretty wrapped up in cloth tape.

    anyone know if there is another join near the back so i can just replace the back section without having to venture into the roof lining?
    or is there a good way of fitting new connectors into the middle of a section of pipe?

    cheers guys,

    I had a wee investigation yesterday and traced it back and sure enough there was the join behind the sub.

    I replaced the hose with a 3m long bit of 4mm silicone hose and it fitted perfectly

    so after I plumbed it all back up I tested it and it didn't leak from the hose joints any more, success

    BUT

    it did leak from the actual motor so i stripped it down and sure enough the wee brass tube has corroded and snapped, thanks to Keeno's link i found the repair kit on eBay and have ordered it so hopefully once that's done it will be the end of my rear washer troubles, fingers crossed

    very helpfull thread thanks guys , I just did the fix as per Fingermouses pics today shure enough the coupling had come apart inside the conduit , however
    when i put it all back together and refilled the system I now have a leak coming from the rear portion of the drivers side wing and the drivers side screen washer is weaker than the passenger side

    is there another connector under the arch or bulkhead ?? also both my headlamp washers leak constantly from the pressure cylinders , Ive already had the bumper off to try fix but seems only fix is 2 new pressure cylinders ! is there any way to fix the cylinders or take them out of the system ie fuse relay whare are they ?????

    Slightly off topic but are your headlight washers supposed to spray everytime? or is it on a timing/pressure thing, or do the lights have to be on? mine work when they feel like it....maybe one in ten squirts......ha-em

    Lights need to be on Dave, and you need to keep the lever pressed for pressure to build up before they work, so there's a delay whilst the windscreen is being sprayed.

    Yes and no, it did it a couple of times then stopped....
    I rushed out that quick i fell over the mrs dog (Chihuahua) and give my self a nice bruise on my head,,,after calling it a dringo B***ard....lol

    bugger its only been about 2 weeks since i did the fix to the connector in the trunking under the air box , good news is my pressure cylinders no longer leak as it was the break at the connector that was allowing the washer fluid to drain to the headlamp cylinders being the lowest part of the system , also whilst trying to dismantle one of these units i discovered that the washer jet can infact be angled ie when you pull the cylinder jets out of the bumper they can be turned left or right to aid in correct fittment of the plastic covers set that aside today i discovered that i now have no rear wash jet GRRRRR assuming that maybe the connector under the sub or at the motor may be at fault i will investigate next dry day

    ok sorry no pics but it was an absolute doddle , unscrew 2 star head screws at boot interior grab piont remove cpl bits of plastic from tail gate bumpers , grab the grab point and pull bobs yer uncle , wasnt difficult , and sure as eggs are aggs the pipe had popped off from the rear wash wipe popped it back on and wrapped 3 small cable ties around it jobs a good un ......... press rear wash instant screen wash firing straight up .. guess ill have to take a look at the one under the sub very soon lol

    Sorry to bring up an old thread, Has anyone had the washer fluid leaking under the bonnet but instead of leaking under the air box its leaking the same side of the water bottle? Looks like alot of water is coming out the front drivers wheel arch. Whats the best way to fix this? Remove the plastic bit in the wheel arch or go in from the top removing the water bottle etc?

    Take a read of No water from rear washer

    Unhappy Rear washer fluid leak

    When I bought my AUDI A3 2.0 TDI SE 2004 (54) I was told their was a problem with the rear washer & it had been disconnected. I reconnected it this evening and found the fault. It looks like water is leaking out of the motor?!
    So I have been looking for the mentioned "Repair kit" I found this on a auction site:
    MK4 Golf Passat Lupo A3 A4 A6 - Rear Wiper Repair Kit on eBay (end time 25-Feb-11 23:49:45 GMT)
    Even though the description states only up to the 2003 model would this kit still be ok?
    Or does anyone know somewhere better to get one?
