Fuel Gauge always showing half a tank more than I have

it seems to recognise when i'm low as the light comes on

Most likely going to be the fuel sender, its in the fuel tank and costs about £30ish.

some people have said cleaning the sender may help, is it worth trying this before buying another?

also, wheres a good place to buy a sender that will fit my model?

You can try cleaning it, its a bit of a mission, remember to do it in a well ventilated place due to petrol fumes and make sure there are NO naked flames.

Best place would probably be Euro Car Parts or German Swedish French, they are all over the place and do a good price if you need one straight away.

Hi, this has just started happening to my 55 plate A3

Is this thing easy to get at? How would I go about doing it?

Hey Mike, its in the boot, you will have to get into the fuel tank to get at the sender.

Disconnect it, get lots of petrol on your hands, get high off the fumes and then replace....

Hope that makes sense
