    Strange Anomaly

Car has been running great! But came back from playin footie, and it was struggling to start. Was turning over healthily enough then started after couple second. But the EPC light was on and subsequently reduced the power output.
So Driving home, I stopped at the shops. Jumped back in the car and started no probs with no EPC light, Power was restored.

Then home, shower and back out, started fine, drove to cash machine, started fine again.

Then this morning, done the same. Struggled for couple seconds then started with EPC light on. So i turned off then started again first time without and with no EPC light on.

    Whats goin on?

Hmm do you have Vag-com? It has saved me loads of time, money and hassle:

I would check your Coil Packs (How many miles has your car done)

and I'd also check/clean your MAF sensor, maybe it's just dirty.

Or of course the obvious new Spark plugs if needed.

Follow the hose from the engine to the Airbox and its a smallish plug...If that makes sence.

Well with 76k then "maybe" the coil packs are about to go, but you'll defiantly know when it goes cause the car will drive like an absolute pig.

The Mass Air Flow sensor is connected to your air filter box, it's a unit that sits between your Air filter and Intake pipe (TIP) to the Turbo. Usually cleaning that out will give a smoother ride, but depends how dirty it is. Follow the link below for instructions to clean it properly, and it won't cost much, you just need some Isopropyl Alcohol to clean it.

Oh in the instructions it says to leave it overnight to dry, but TBH I only left it out for an hour or so, it drys up pretty quickly but make sure it's 100% dry before re-installing

    depends what you're referring to:

MAF = needs cleaning every now and then, not often, maybe every 20,000 miles (but it can go longer without cleaning)

Coils = I had two go bad on me when I reached around 80k, so I replaced all four. Coil backs are known to go after a re-map (which was sort of my situation at the time)

I had something similar happen on my car, it wouldn't start (after footy too!)

I left it for a little while and it started ok. A day later, the same thing happened again, I got it plugged in with VCDS and it came up as a 'speed sensor' intermittent fault. Ordered one from TPS at about 70 squids and not had a problem since.

In my case, I had no problems once it started and as a result no lights to indicate a fault either. From what I understand, the speed sensor reads the revs and fuels the engine accordingly. If the speed sensor was playing up I suppose you would get a loss of power. Best bet as everyone says is to get VCDS on and read off any codes. Good luck!

you can download the latest program/interface for free from: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/

I was lucky enough because I split the cost of the cable with my bro since he had a Golf V6 4motion so we could use the cable for both cars. I think we ordered it from the same site as listed above.

Also depending on how long you plan on keeping your car, but for me it has already covered the cost of buying the cable, because any Audi garage will charge you 50 or more just to plug the cable in and do a diagnostics test. What I do no a days is I'll do the Vag diagnostics myself and I'll print it out and give it to Audi so they do not charge me 50. Also it really helps when the stealers try talking crap to you, by telling you that a certain part is not working correctly, with the Vag cable you can always check to see if it's true or not and if the error code comes up again.

    Hope this helps
