Compatible Car Stereos

I am looking to replace the original tape player in my Audi A3. Just wandered if any stereo will work or do I need to buy a certain size?

I only ask as the current head unit looks a lot larger than a normal stereo, but this could just be an illusion..

Yes, it is different. If you want to go for a standard DIN size headunit, you will need a fascia adaptor, and a wiring harness adaptor. Also, if your car is 2001 or later, you may need to do some extra wiring mods as the back light and ignition on is done via canbus on the later cars.
