If you just do road driving the cab is probably better (noise with the hood down), if you are going to do trackdays and use semi-slick tyres, get a coupe.

Either way = /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif

Can anybody recommend which shock/spring combo works well if lowering a '99 A3 1.9 TDi?

The car sits on 16" alloys but looks awful at the standard ride height. I know the Sport models were slightly lower.

I'm based in the UK and whilst I'm not looking at slamming the car to the ground I do want to keep ride comfort but lose the unsightly gap between wheel and arch.

I lowered mine using H&R lowering springs and Koni adjustable shocks, the car is down 30mm front and 26mm rear from the original height, the ride is perfect but you got to watch out for kerbs and speed ramps.
