    car not as fast as it was

    i dont know if its just me getting used to the power, but i remapped my car two months ago and was pleased with the results but it doesnt pin me in the seat like it used to, i havent had it on vagcom yet just thought i would see if you guys had ant ideas.

    Hello, I have had the same thinking about my 2.0 tfsi quattro, no remap but I've just lost the incredible push it had before. I guess I got used to the power.

    But actually, the best thing to do is "bench"( is that the word? lol)
    I mean when you go let the computers check the power on the wheels.

    try driving a slow car for a few days. thats what i do. drive round in my other halfs 1.2clio for a few days. (insured obviously) then i jump back into my car and notice its fast again.

    try it. im sure you'll be happy with the power again.

    maybe just because its a little warmer perhaps??

    I think the best way to check a boost leak is to take it to a garage although i do recall it being discussed on here at length. Use the search button uptop dude and you should find some places to check for it.

    Although the warmer weather is going to mess around with the performance somewhat =(

    Try driving it later in the evening when the sun goes down and the air is cooler, if it's quicker then, then you can say it's heat related. It's very noticeable in my S3 with regards to power delivery between daytime and night time during the summer.

    I second DJ-S3's idea

    I drove my mums 1.2 Polo for 4 days just there as I went back to UK for a concert. Got back to the airport in Slovakia and drove from Slovakia to Czech with a big smile on my face!

    I do think we get used to the maps though... apart from a boost leak.... take it on a nice B-Road and give it some welly (within national speed limit obviously ).

    Try the trick where you touch the brake with your left foot and then immediately plant the accelerator to the floor (best to do this on an empty straight road in a high gear). I understand this re-aligns the throttle body back to 100% as it can adjust to give less than maximum throttle if you have been fannying around town roads for a while.

    It seems to make quite a difference in my S3 anyway after I've been dawdling up and down the A34 at 50-60mph for a few days.

    or aparently to re-set if you put the car on full ignition, press the accelerator pedal down for about 5-10secs i believe (could be wrong here) and then release and then start the car and see if that makes any difference

    Yeah driving slower cars always helps!. Most of my driving is in a standard plod issue 1.7 diesel Astra or a massive Iveco van so when I get into my car after a 9 hour shift it feels like a rocket compared to the work sheds

    This is very much the case for me too, such a difference between night and day driving since the weather has warmed up a bit.

    I've never heard of the "touching the brake pedal while going along then planting the gas" method and find it hard to believe that Audi would have such a procedure!

    I tried the ignition on then keep gas pedal down for 7 seconds then start the car and didn't notice anything different.

    The only genuine method of resetting the TB I know of is with the use of VAGCOM

    I've noticed a big difference between day and night driving too. I think drilling the airbox when I had it smoothed probably exacerbated the problem to an extent too.

    My car felt a bit sluggish a few weeks ago, especially at the top end of the rev range. I tried the trick described earlier (full ignition, foot to the floor for 10 seconds, foot off the gas, start the car) a while back and it seemed to make a small difference. The car felt no quicker but did seem to be slightly more responsive.

    I later found that my DV was split and leaking boost as a result. Once I removed it and blanked off the pipework the car was back to being awesome. Might be worth checking the DV if you've not done so already?

    As has been said before the S3 produces alot of heat. The engine bay can get very hot which isnt helped by the thick insulation and uber hot k04.

    Could try removing the bonnet lining and ofcoarse upgrade to a fmic. If you get rid of the smic too you can put a larger cold air feed down on the passengers side further away from the bay. May help a small amount.

    I would get it vag'd, check for errors and take a maf reading.

    I'd guess its ambient temperature related. I used to notice it all the time in previous turbo cars. Even in NA cars you can tell.

    or could just be that your used to it and nothings wrong with it at all. but warmer air does affect the performance of the car!

    thanks for all the replies guys, my airbox is drilled so maybe thats just sucking up hot air, the dv looks ok or is the split inside, i havent taken it off for a proper look yet.
