And to be honest im not over the moon with it. Dont get me wrong i can tell the diffrence but i think i got my hopes up a bit to much. I was told my MAF was shot so i got a new one(i was told this would make a big diff) no diff at all.

All i can say is im happy its done but maybe i need a few more mods to get the full use of it.

So bit ov a mixed bag :sadlike:

really? Were did you get it mapped?
I heard that after the map its a big differance? Im trying not to get my hopes up to much aswell.

It might be me as iv been wizzin around in a new m3 for the past 48 hours

Midland vw did it for me 310 quid for 3 mins work :)

i think i was just expecting more. Not to forget its only a 1.8

What car are you driving mate?

My car was remapped before Id bought it, and as far as I'm aware its perfectly healthy so is pushing out the power it should be. My opinion?? I'd be seriously disappointed with a standard S3!

Iv just got a standard s3 with a bailey dump valve oh and a custom code stage 1 map now

My opinion?? I'd be seriously disappointed with a standard S3!
My S3 was standard when i bought it and it felt like it was going to take off! Only because my previous car was a A3 1.6.
But now im board of the power. Ive done a few bits (Miltek catback, THS De-cat, Neuspeed P-Flow intake Forge Split-R DV etc...) which have made a little differance like i expected but when i get the remap it will be the icing on the cake hopefully.....Untill i can afford FMIC and some other little bits and bobs.

Can you guys who have a mapped car wast owning it notice the differance in the power? If so is it a big amount?

Err hmm I've very surprissed to hear that. Had mine in standard form for 6 months before I remapped it and boy what a difference! For one you can actually hear the turbo whereas I never could before, and once I hit the magic 3k rpm band you can certainly feel a more definate surge in power! Had mine remapped at APS - im v suprissed with your feedback. Even when doing 60 and hit the loud pedal, if your in a lower gear its certainly gets you to 80 - 90 a lot quicker than it did in standard form!

Everybody on here says how the difference between mapped and not mapped is like day and night but I thought it was more like day and sun set!

You can notice the difference but its not a massive one, I was a little dissapointed too.

Yeah im not saying its no diff thers deffo a few more horses under the bonnet but its no real force in your seat material

Id say my standard 210bhp is now 225 with a push my friend has a 20v fiat coupe thing thats total standard i cant keep up with him

Ha mines like day and total eclipse at the mo

Maybe theres a fault but the laptop only picked up on the MAF that was a total waist ov 70 quid

True i maybe do have 250ish but it dont feel like it. Like iv said maybe i was just expecting to much

Have you got access to VAGCOM at all? You could log the data. I just found my logs and I got the following:

STANDARD

Boost = 11.5 PSI
BHP = 221
Torque = 227 lbft

MAPPED

Boost = 20 PSI
BHP = 257
Torque = 270 lbft

Its no where near as accurate as a rolling road as its getting the data from different sensors on the car but you get the idea.

il speak to my mate and ask him if i can pop in and plug me in 2morra

Or if anyone knows of a 4wd rolling road in Brum il pop in and get it done

What option is this under? Also I presume you have to have to full registered version of Vag-Com in order to log?

funny i did ask the question he said loads ov people had come for a remap and it was already done. But not mine it was total/still feels like it is still standard :)

There is something wrong with your map or your car! My mate also has a 20v turbo Coupe and when mine was stock I would get the jump on him 1st and 2nd but 3rd he would go from a car behind to a car in front and then continue to pull away but after Mr Revo paid me a visit I get away 1st and 2nd but 3rd he makes no gain whatsoever and I start to pull away from there on. Mine is a 2001 AMK with no other mods.......

I'm suprised you not feeling the extra power, I mean the bhp figure only goes up by 30-40bhp, but the torque figure goes up by quite a bit, so you should feel a much stronger push in the seat feeling around the 3k revs where peak torque comes in, I'd take it back and have a moan, or testdrive another mapped car as a comparison!
Where abouts in Brum are you anyways, anywhere near Solihull? You can have a go in my prehistoric AmD Stage1 if you are not too far away if you like.

Can I have a go in yours Jo???

Rich, something doesnt sound right mate, I have always only heard the difference being like day and night for before and after a remap.

Have a word with Jody and see if he can check anything out for you...

Let us know how you get on dude.

Adamski, what you driving, theres a few of us from around that area and whereabouts are you from??

i have a 1.9 tdi 110 remapped to 130+?? got a few s3 bits to go on it when i get the chance, also got my escort cossie but its off the road atm getting a 500/500 engine built :arco:. i'm just down the road from the land rover :yes:

Aaah, i was at the Olton Tavern earlier today, so just minutes away from you!!

Strange, but i saw a really nice Green Escort Cossie this morning in Shirley, was looking good!!!

Get some pics up of your car and you are welcome to meet us at the Cov meet every Wednesday evening...lol

Sorry for jacking the thread, PM dude :)

I do have the full version of VAG but not too sure if you need it for this or not.

Log Engine Block 115 for boost, 120 for the data needed for BHP, Torque, RPM

look half way down the following page for the 2 spreadsheets 115, and 120:

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/index.html

You can remove the fuse for the Haldex computer and run it in 2 wd. You need VAG-COM though as it will throw some codes relating to ABS and stuff.

If you aren't getting over 200hp at the front wheels there's something amiss with the hardware. It's 100% not the Custom-Code at fault.

Log the airflow and boost

Gavin

I would suspect it's still maf related, have you tried disconecting it and see how your car runs ?? New mafs have still been known to be dodgy...

REVO all the way. If you can barely notice the difference with your Remap something has gone wrong or not worked properly. The difference is immense. My was 210bhp but is now reading 263bhp following my Revo and new Diverter Valve. As for the comment about the Fiat - I have raced 2 of these and neither stood a chance. My power kicks in a 2000rpm through the gears and even at 60 in 6th you hit 90 before you know it!!! Have it checked out or get a proper Remap like Revo or AMD?

My remap increased peak torque by just under 100ft·lb, if you can't feel that then there's something wrong.

Got to echo other comments in the thread here. I had my S3 custom coded at Midland VW 2 1/2 years ago and the car was and still is a lot quicker and more responsive than when standard.

Either you've got an issue with the car (what about that diverter valve?) or there's an issue with the map. BHP figures are all pie in the sky. It's how it feels (torque wise) that matters. Much stronger mid range pulling right up through the revs.

Maybe you should have had it revoed to make it 'feel' faster :) :)
