The remap is done

@ Peakey

I find it very strange that your S3 doesnt feel that much different to stock with the Custom-Code Phase 1 software on there.

We quote gains of 50-55bhp and 43-58ft/lb torque over the stock vehicle so it is a noticable difference.

You mention a Bailey dump valve,is this atmospheric or is it actually a diverter valve? We have seen issues previously with Bailey DV's not operating correctly, tend to see pistons sticking.

Also do you have a stock air filter or performance?

What mileage is your vehicle on as this will have a big part to play in how the vehicle feels?

You know iv drove it today and it feels much quicker than it did yesterday.

AS iv said in the whole thread maybe its just me

still have a stock filter
125000

Dont get me wrong i dont think midland vw have ripped me off for a second there quite helpful and know there stuff about s3s

I know what you're saying Peakey, it feels quicker just not as quick as you were expecting. I built myself up too much I think too and I've owned quicker cars and just expected this to be similar.

Midland vw did it for me 310 quid for 3 mins work :)

i think i was just expecting more. Not to forget its only a 1.8

3mins work for a Custom Code? i had mine done last year a stage one and it took well over an hour. They put it on the rolling road before and after. Cost me £290. Well worth it :)

True i maybe do have 250ish but it dont feel like it. Like iv said maybe i was just expecting to much

I logged 250bhp @ 18degC outside temp last year but 265bhp @ 2degC outside temp earlier this year (both with Standard SMICs).
If you got your remap done in the winter it might have felt more impressive.

That must ov been some serious map i was told i didnt even need a rolling road for a custom code map? Its all getting very technical. I give up

I thought all custom codes used a rolling road for the graphs and tweaks. Maybe yours was just a generic map. Still think you should get it on a rolling road an then you will no for sure what BHP your getting :)

custom code does not mean custom code here - please see above

So it's going to look like mine when it's finished then?

Nice Cossie, not seen it about though...

yours looks smart jo . Yer mine will be similar altho i dont think i'm gonna weld on some rear archs too much hassle just stick to the easy(ish) stuff to fit...

TBH it might be nice if i could come and look at yours and see how the skirts fit!? As i've offered them up to mine and they look way off i have the feeling the sills are different on S3's to normal a3's!? Forgot to say i have 2 s3 wings also so that will aid the skirt fitting lol ...

In answer also i have been working/living away for few yrs so the cossie not been round that much, was my daily drive couple of yrs ago but then when it went in for major work i got a run about and then away again now for rebuild so its only seen the road 3-4 months in the last 18 :( .... But its a great car.. will be back prob end of this year :rockwoot:

but yer pm me your no if you dont mind me coming have a nose at your car

100lb/ft!!! What map have you got? Most companies dont quote more than 60lb. Not saying you're making it up, just curious.

You can go further...
Mine started at 199 lb-ft and ended up at 332 lb-ft.

Generic maps would likely add 50-70 lb-ft giving 270 lb-ft ish as a reasonable torque output...any higher you really need better ICs to cool the charge...but add them, and you can go higher.

www.custom-code.co.uk is the provider of the software.

noooo really? yes i no that, ive had one installed on my car. the CC aproved garage took an hour as they had it on the rolling road before and after to show the difference. My point was if the guy aint happy with the result. Get it on a rolling road to see the output of the BHP. end of the day if your not happy, go back. simple really.

i picked one from this list here

Nice S3, never seen it about and I'm always knocking about in Monkspath due to mates living there and sneaking for a cheeky pint in the Field House (I remember when it was The Chequers though!).

You're not a million miles away from me, grew up my The Sharmans and now live in Olton ;)

T

Tom, you will never see Jo's S3 out unless its his birthday or its a VERY special day...lol!!!

Used to go to the Sharmans when I was at college and also used to pop into Chequers every now and then, but this was QUITE a few years ago now!!!

Ahhh I see, well I shall keep my beady eye out for him all the same.

Sharmans used to be a great pub, its just full of sh*t now though which is a shame (or it was the last few times I went in there). I used to love living up the road from it, midweek beer sessions and stagger home through the park...good times. :sm4:

Whoops...off topic!:sign_ot:

We just used to go up there from college, aint been there for years now!!!

Normally just go out in Brum now if at all, normally in the Mailbox, just as its a better crowd there.

Still aint seen you on the road mate....

I live 5 minutes walk away from the Fieldhouse Pub. :)

Everybody on here says how the difference between mapped and not mapped is like day and night but I thought it was more like day and sun set!

You can notice the difference but its not a massive one, I was a little dissapointed too.

I'm amazed you can't notice a difference over standard. Mine is way faster than before.

It had air filter, DV, plugs and coil packs and it is a completely different car!

I had a little dig with an R32 just before the remap who i assumed would thrash me but he only just pulled away. There is no way he would do now!

The Custom-Code is the brand name, the Phase 1 is a generic remap which is flashed via the OBD2 port into the vehicles ECU.

The Custom-Code Phase 2 is a tailored map to suit your mods.

I do believe now that peakey is fairly happy with his software, the ECU takes a short while to reset the adaptation levels which means the more you drive the vehicle the better it feels.

If anyone wants any more information then please feel free to ask

Leigh

I had a similar experience when i had a custom code remap, i could tell it was faster but not what i was expecting. Then 4 weeks later i had it revo'd and finally felt the difference i had been expecting all along!

I killed an R32 on my 5 Hour trail with Revo hehehe.

I'd be interested to see the difference between my Jabba map and a revo as they seem the one to beat, think it would be a good dual...hopefully get the chance on a quarter mile strip one day...:)

I'm at Inters if you fancy a duel, would be good

Where is inters ? I'd enjoy a 'duel':) with your revo'd S3...if it's quicker I'd be booking an appointment pronto...lol, be interesting...
