Hi found an a3 1998 model but with a 1.6 petrol.

How much bhp is that ?
Whats the mpg for it ?
WAhat can be done to get more power,but not breaking the bank ?

Any help will be greatful.thanks

Not a lot you can do to make the 1.6 quicker, I would personally go for the 1.8T or a TDi.

i agree with Wai-Fan but if insurance is an issue with the 1.8t or tdi the 1.6 is still a great motor if your not after a race car.

No insurance is not an issue at all.I am from malta and can only find 2 audi for sale in this tiny island.One 1.6 petrol and 1.8t.I fancy the 1.8t but I need it for everyday use and the owner is dreaming about the price.I fancy getting an a3 tdi 130 bhp from the uk but prices are high at the moment.Ok 4700 pounds may seem to be right for you but I need around 4300 euros to register the car in malta and another 1000 euro to get it delivered.Really dont know what to do at the moment.

looked at ebay,piston heads and auto trader and cant really find the right car for me.even in this sites classified.anyone know another good site ?

Also what does a 110 bhp and 130 bhp engine have different and whats needed to convert a 110 bhp to 130 bhp ?Thanks

also id defo try for a 2.0 TDI, i think u will find that the insurance wont be much different from the 1.6
