focus st vs s3 anyone else raced one?!!

i was at the gallions reach beckton car cruise today in my s3 so when it finally finished me and my mate who has a fiat coupe 20v turbo left and followed everyone else up the a13 so i see this grey focus st in the middle lane so me and my mate went both side of him edge in him on and bang we both dropped down and i was with him in third gear then i nudged him when i was in 4th gear and then he did not want no more lol i was impressed i must say i thought he would kill me by his stats and i really wanted 1 of them but now my mind has changed!!!

I'd never choose a ford over my car. Had many many fords and they just aren't in the same league. If that sounds snobby then so be it. I've given up on caring now!

Even the new RS which is due for release soon, it might have 300hp, but in the colours they've chosen for it, all it shouts to me is CHAV! They'll always have that image as a brand for me as they are in the "affordable" for CHAV bracket. Stick on some race brand stickers, a 4" quad exhaust and one could fit right in with the CHAV brigade down at the local McDonalds car park.

The S3 is so cheap now that it unfortunately fits into the above category as a cheap possible for CHAVTASTIC modifications. Remember the Yellow "barry boys" S3 car that was on here a short while ago. This is becoming more and more inevitable as time goes by, cars get cheaper, CHAVS buy them and end of story.

Rant over. Nothing in this post was directed at you Haglos, i am mearly saying that the CHAVS are slowly and surely taking over the world. My street is full of them, i live inbetween two lots. They make my life hell, late at night and early morning, morals have all but gone out the window with these people.

ive taken an ST with heat soak, completely ruined it, never had a fair fight yet....mid range is obviously where we are going to shine, in a 0-60 sprint im not too hopeful if the ST is mapped

yup totally agree with G, just been for maccy d's breaky and what pulled in? a chuffin S3 with oval exhaust and a baseball cap wearing mong!! even had his RST's sprayed black with silver centre cap.... looked a right 'n*b'
 
Im agreeing with MR G here as well, I imagine in the next 12 momths we will get invaded by the chav brigade :keule:

Lol well chavs have to be tought a lesson however, Mr G the amount of saxo's you have raced :p

The only thing about ST's they do have half a decent exhaust note!
 
300BHP FWD, would love to see that attack a roundabout lol I dont see how they believe that car will work in a country where it is raining 99% of the time lol

I guess you forgot to engage 1st gear G lol, I have educated them in every aspect of real POWER lol
 
The only time I have been left by a chav was on a road with speed bumps :(
 
Well not all of us has the luxury of the MTM faz....that said the Saxo's are getting on my nerves! Guess i'll have to try second gear next time.

i agree with u mr g which is y yesterday i was happy i only saw 1 silver s3 all standard looking and a chav was not driving it but then beside it was all the silly looking saxo's and so on.

I have just left spain where I have a fully modded focus ST. Been in Dubai for 3 months and just bought and S3 (always fancied 1)

MODS:

Wolf CAIS
Dreamscience Remap 5 tunes
Janspeed exhaust
Piper Decat
Mongoose Downpipe
Pro Alloy Intercooler
Eibach springs

Approx 300BHP

ok, Briefly.. The ST, wonderful car, really nice interior, lovely growl from the five pot T5 engine. Nice looking car, loved it, but build quality not all that, squeeks rattles from new.

S3, very well built, handles great, easy to mod..

ok , down to power. The ST and the S3 are very similar standard, 0-60 probably about the same, HOWEVER , once they both hit 60 its bye bye S3, the ST has sooo much mid range torque, and the S3 lose's lots through the transmision once going.

I havent modded the S3 yet (plan to) but when I first added just the remap to the ST it used to bang on gear change, the turbo guage used to got 3 quarters only without and after remap was over the red much much more grunt.

Then came the CAI, intercooler, and straight through exhaust and OH MY GOD, what a beast. Properly fast car, used to shoot flames out of the exhaust, the only problem was traction, became a nightmare, could only floor it in a straight line.

OK, the S3 will be getting modded and I will update exactly how I think the 2 will compare at each stage, revo remap will be next and i'll let you know how that compares to a Remap on the ST.

Alreafy tho I can tell the S3 will put the power down so much better, its gonna be fun.

one thing though, mid range i have to disagree on the basis of my experiance racing an ST from approx 30mph all the way to 100mph on a private track.... let us know what your thoughts are once your car is mapped mate

its a very nice looking car thats what... comon I know your a S3 owner but, having had both cars, there both VERY good. the ST is a beautiful looking car....
 
okay then tell me Mr G how you see your S3....isn't it a beefed up A3 with garish blue fake suede interior?
 
I love my S3, wanted one for years, they never seem to age, yeah a beefed up A3 with a cream interior lol... I love the S3 loved the ST both for different reasons!
 
Oh and before i forget nice stickers on the loud focus. Exactly the type of thing i'm talking about, the only picture found happened to be one with stickers all down the lower side of the car. PMSL i rest my case!

im defo considering an st but its just the lack of traction and i aint had my s3 mapped yet either once its mapped ill probably change my mind but the sound it makes is wat im after and it is a good looking car.
 
OK, the focus ST hs NO stick on bits as you put it.. It actually dosent share one panel as the normal focus bar the Bonnet, it has a recaro interior and a Volvo T5 engine.

We can all have banter about our cars but that is overstepping the mark.

There both nice cars, ST was a very nice looking car and I loved it, S3 is also a car that never ages and looks ace, and very very well built.

I see my S3 as a nice classic lined car. Something which is understated, well designed, built and had at the time of production quite a fair amount of power. It was sought after and while that fact suggests otherwise it was a rare car to see on the road. Around here anyway.

It shares the same design as the A3 but as you should know being here that the S3 doesn't share many body panels with the A3. To me Ford lost it when they stopped with the Cosworth. That was a real RS, the same as the S3, shared probably one panel with it's former partner and had a lovely engine and drivetrain. Ok it did have vents and a big spoiler but at the time of it's release it was something different something fresh and was a top performer.

Theres a difference between beefed up and tarted up, beefed up is what you'd call slightly but nicely OEM +, tarted up is all the stick ons afterwards. Who cares if it's a beefed up A3....i like my motor, like most Audi's/BMW's and exotic performance cars. What i don't like are chav brigade wagons.

Why do you see so many Fords on the road which are max powered to the maximum? Ever asked yourself that?

As for my blue fake suede interior, i like it, breaks up the black interior. I'm all for a wild side, but not one that shouts "hey look at me" i'm driving an orange car & by the way i also have a small penis!

I'm saying no more, there's not a great deal of point. Each person has their own opinions and choices in cars. I don't have to explain myself or my car for that matter to anyone let alone on a forum!

Focus ST is a car I like..this is an Audi forum so am sorry for not being a sheep.
