Used them in motor bikes in the past and they always come out with ***** stuck to them so they cant be a bad thing.

Mini's always used to have them from the factory.. but they ran the gearbox in the same oil as the engine so would have more metalic parts in the oil by that very nature... i've one on my my quattro... can't hurt can it
