Clutch pedal.... click, snap, drop!

Well, just got practically home when i dipped the clutch in and heard something click, then snap then the clutch pedal dropped in completely and the clutch wont disengage at all!

A small black plastic clip appears to have snapped off, and a white almost hooked clip is on the driverside floor!

Any ideas whats gone wrong? And is it expensive to repair?

Got the AA on the way, but ideas first would be cool!

do a search, this has been covered millions of times. A part needs to be replaced. There are guides on here somewhere, with step by step instructions.
