Hi all when i had my service done back in November, he advised me that:-

Both my rear roll bars collers split,
Both front wish bones bushes perrished,
Osf inner Cv Boot begining to leak,

I have a few questions my friend a mechanic would do this for me for free obviously i have to buy the parts, but he can only do it on my drive, so no ramp etc, is this possible to do?,

I have recently paid alot of money for a full service including cam belt, waterpump haldex brake fluid, etc, which my friend could have done and saved me so much money, but i wanted it done right away and by an Audi specialist and to keep up history etc,

, so i want to make sure its possible to do without a ramp before speaking to him to confirm it, as if not would rather just avoid the situation and pay and have it done as he seemed a bit confused as why i did not ask him to do my service, Also is it worth doing anything else while i have these done? Thanks alot Oski:)

Also would i need whole new wishbones? or are the bushes seperate? thanks Oski

If your friends a mechanic he should be able to tell you if he needs a ramp or not before you even get the parts....!

Hi mate yeah i know what you are saying, but this was back in November wehn i told him, so i just wondered if it was best done on a ramp, if so i wont say anything and get it done id rather that than ask him and he says it fine to be struggling around on my drive trying to do it just to help out if its best to do on ramps if you no what mean,i will just ask him anyway he might be able to use ramp at his work doubt it though as he does it for a favour for me, and the garage wont like it

I can imagine the front ARB would be a pain in the **** to do with a ramp, it's not a simple job.
He must be a very good friend, there's at least a days work there without a lift, and all for free!!

Got the ARB and wishbone bushs to do on my S3, anyone got any tips to make the job quicker?

As far as i know the rear one is quite straight forward but the front one requires the sub frame to be dropped so i you do need a ramp really, as for the wishbone bushes you will need to have the whole wishbone out and have the bush pressed out and a new one pressed in, unless you buy the whole wishbone and just swap them, i think they are about £100 each.

I did the rear ARB on my drive but had used a ramp for the front one, it could be done on the drive with a couple of jacks tbh

Had the subframe off mine on the drive before when i had the gearbox off so thats not a problem. I take it the bushs are the same as golfs, have done a few of those in the past.

I had the front wishbone bushes replaced on my S3 the other week, parts where like £9 each and then cost me 2 hours labour to have them pressed in.
