Yet another problem has occured with my tdi, now when I try to start it especially when cold, it takes lots of turning over before it finally fires up, but then there is a big cloud of smoke from the exhaust and lumpy tick over for 30 seconds or so.
After that its fine and carrys on with its normal intermitant turbo overboosting problem lol

Any ideas on the starting thing tho?

I hate tdi's in the cold...best bet is to change the plugs and battery (if not already)...or make sure the electric is getting to the plugs in the first place...

Our tdi now occasionally decides not to heat the glow plugs at all, which is incredibly annoying!

So much so, that we now have a hot wire running out of the bonnet, which we plug straight into the fuse box some mornings just to get it started!
