Could someone with a 1999 S3 (or pre facelift S3) post the part number of the screw in tow eye that should be with the tools in your boot please, number 14 in the diagram below :)? (the part number will be on the tow eye)

I am missing my one and need to tow my car quite urgently.

Audi parts aren't able to get the part number for me. There is no part number for the tow eye on the diagram they have for a 99 S3.

The only part number they have is for a fixed tow eye that is permanently attached to the front of the chassis - not the one you screw. So I need the correct part number of the screw in tow eye so that I can get it ordered.

Any help greatly appreciated!

i might have one off my old golf in garage, i'll go have a look. its a mk4 golf, presume it'd be the same thread

a03/04 is all it says on it. hope that helps mate

Cheers for that. But I need the part number from one that comes from a prefacelift S3, preferably a 99.

I need to order the part in, it'll take a few days to come, so I want to be sure that I'm ordering the correct part. The car's already be off the road too long as it is :(

Hello Mate, just got mine out
99 pre-facelift S3

Part number
4B0 805 616A

although the forging isnt brilliant, so that last 6 is possibly an 8

Hope this helps!

Nice one! Thanks.

This part is listed in the online catalog for the facelift S3 http://www.vagcat.com/find/?art=4B0805616A . So I wasn't sure if it would be the same part for the pre-facelift.

Audi parts department in Ireland had ordered me some permanent fixed tow eye at nearly £90! So I'm off to get me the correct part now from the UK :)

Note for anyone in Ireland
: Audi charge €22 ex vat for this toe eye in Ireland and £11 ex vat for the part in the UK - just another prime example of how we are ripped of for parts in Ireland, there's no explaining a 100% price differential. Sterling and the Euro are almost one for one now.

A dealer in the UK will ship this item to me quicker and cheaper than I can get from a dealer in Ireland - crazy.

Well I've little faith in Audi :p! But seriously, it's a part that needs to be ordered in, so it takes a few days to come. If it turned out to be the wrong part, I'd have to wait another few days to get the correct one.

Glad I could be of help there Mate,
Hope you can get your S3 back on the road soon!:icon_thumright::s3addict:

Ermmmm your S3 is off the road because of a missing towing eye.......

Well, he said he needed to tow it quite urgently, so I guess so?

Yeah, it's a special security feature, the car won't move without it. I've taken the engine out so she won't ever get robbed on me. Towing is the way of the future ;)

...but back to the real world! I need to tow my car to a mechanic (broken clutch pedal & master cylinder) so without the toe eye she's of the road for while :( .

I've just had the clutch pedal/master cylinder fault too!!

Except I was forced to use a non-specialist to do it (working away from home, no tools, sob sob) and ended up with NO clutch pedal switch, split and bodged vacuum hoses that very nearly put me in a ditch, and a 250 quid bill.......if I could prove it, there would be...trouble.:gun2:
