The S3 has a 3 bar fpr as standard. Seems recommended with stage 2 maps and various other mods.

I think the 4 bar ones come from things like S4's.

    Hi All,

I was told to buy one for a my stage one Revo map. Never did buy it. Maybe they were just trying to get some more candy out of me.

I want a stage two remap and think I need one for that though.
I don't know what they do or how beneficial they are. I saw someone on here got a stage two Revo and they mentioned they had a 4 Bar Fuel Regulator.

If anybody has any info on what it does, why it is needed, benifits etc, please post as I would love to know too. Hey, maybe I would get more out of my stage one if I got this huh?

    Car: A3 1.8T QS (ARY)
Mods: Revo Stage 2, Milltek, K&N, Forge 007p, B8's & Eibach Springs, 312MM OEM Brakes, BBS LM's, Light Pack, Ally TT Pedals, New Audi Gear Knob, Int LED's
Wish List: ARB's, FMIC, Hose's, Maybe A Clean Engine Bay and Free Petrol

So is the standard s3 regulator enough for a stage 2 map??

Not entirely sure. I dont see a problem replacing it with the 4 bar. All the people I know who had maps and other mods changed to the 4 bar and the cars ran fine.

If you change to a 4 bar FPR, you need a map set for 4 bar of fuel pressure, or you will have crap emissions at idle and quite possibly run rich and loose power.

My APR map was set up for 3 bar FP...I bought and tried a 4 bar FPR (Corrado VR6 part, IIRC) and it not only lost power and torque, but wouldn't have passed the MOT emissions test in a month of sundays.

It's not a 'cure all' power gain mod...just be aware of what you are doing by fitting one.

@ swatchuk- yes this is perfectly true! and quite nice of us too i think same goes if you ever decide to go stage 3...... from stage 2 to stage 3 it's another nominal cost of 150+VAT!
